Ok, I beat the game on an NES emulator years ago so that's why I played it again. So after watching a couple of episodes of the series and recalling of the moments when seeing them again I felt like playing the NES game to see how well it has turned out. Capcom made quite a few great Disney games for the NES like DuckTales, Chip N' Dale: Rescue Rangers and, well, Tale Spin!? Anyways, in the early 90's there was an afternoon block entitled the Disney Afternoon in which I was a kid right after school I would tune in to watch shows like DuckTales, Chip N' Dale, and Tale Spin. The original lineup was a 2 hour block which had shows that were based off of Disney characters from old Disney cartoon movies and shorts. DuckTales contains characters based off of Donald Duck, his 3 nephews and Scoorge McDuck. Tale Spin has characters from the Jungle Book movie and Chip N' Dale: Rescue Rangers has both Chip and Dale from their short shows. But Darkwing Duck was an original series with new characters based of no movies or other origins. The series debuted right after DuckTales retired off the Disney Afternoon block around 1991 and was an instant hit when it hit the air waves. I was a huge fan of the series as much as I was a huge fan of shows like G.I. Joe or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I even had the action figures of Darkwing Duck too! I had Darkwing Duck, his sidekick Launchpad, and the Thunderquack plane. I never owned any of the other figures and never had Darkwing's Ratcatcher motor bike either. Oh well, but at least I had a piece of the series when I was young. I just wish I didn't sell those figures in a garage sell like I did with my original TMNT figures. :(

In the early 90's as a kid you knew when a show was hot and was a hit you knew a video game was probably on it's way right? Correct! Darkwing Duck arrived on the NES system for all fans like me. The game plays just like Mega Man but who cares right? It's freakin' Darkwing!!! The intro song is in the game right before you press start. You start the game and you choose where to go and who to take down just like in Mega Man. Alright, here's the enemy rundown for this game. We have, Bushroot, Megavolt, Liquidator, Quakerjack, Moliarty, and your final boss is the mastermind behind the whole mess of this game is Steelbeak. There's one character I forgot to mention and that's because he's not part of the the series, Wolfduck. According to wikipedia, this character is a made up villian for the game only. It's odd they didn't include Darkwing's evil twin Nega Duck. I thought he was more evil and powerful compared to Steelbeak.

The gameplay in this game is great but I have a few negative complaints about a few things. When Darkwing jumps to shoot his gas gun at enemies, for some reason the response doesn't respond. I get hit and quickly get killed. Another complaint is when you jump down from platforms or ledges you have to press down and jump but when you don't want to hang on the platform you have to press down again. It's really a pain since most of the bosses in this game require you to master this since most of the boss fights have platforms you have to jump and hang on platforms. Overall, everything is great. Steelbeak and Moliarty are the only bosses which gave me a pain in the ass to beat. Steelbeak was dissapointing for being the final boss fight in the game. Once you break down his wall he fights you with a steel plate. Weak!

Overall this game is still nice to play. One of Capcom's classics from Disney for the NES. It's too bad they couldn't make another game for poor Darkwing. It would have been nice. Yes I know, WTF happened to Ninja Gaiden III? As of right now I'm still having a hard time playing that game. I keep getting killed on stage 3!!! But that's for another time.

"Let's Get Dangerous!!"

The Darkness Has Fallen Yet Again!!

Hey, how about that? I beat Ninja Gaiden 2 after a week of beating Ninja Gaiden. My thoughts? Well........this game doesn't seem to be hard compared to the previous but there sure are a ton of stupid birds, bats, and hawks flying towards you in every stage. The most annoying stages in this game had to be Stage 3 and Stage 7. The only positive for this game is when you meet up with the final boss, who is Jaquio once again, you don't start back at 7-1 like in Ninja Gaiden, but the game instead starts you at Stage 7-2. Fair enough!

Like the Nerd stated a couple of weeks ago in his video, the only nagging problem with this game is Stage 2 and Stage 6 where the environment is against you. Stage 2 has the wind blowing against you when your trying to jump platforms, and Stage 6 has slippery fllors cause it's an ice stage. Once again the game offers unlimited continues and has new items to use in the game. The clones in this game is a nice item to use but sometimes it seems they don't hit anything when your trying to attack. My favorite item has to be the fire wheel shield. It's a nice touch but it's timed. Aghhh, once more the final boss, who I thought it was a new villian in Ashtar, was Jaquio and you had to fight him in 3 forms again. Geezzz. Once again I beat him once, get killed in his second form, had to start and play Stage 7-2 all over again, I beat his second form, lose to his third form, and finally beat him.

Another Ninja Gaiden in the books for me. Just one more game to go and I can finally say I have beaten all the Ninja Gaiden games. Well, there is one, the arcade game, but that's different and will have a chance to play it another day. Next up is Ninja Gaiden 3: The Ancient Ship of Doom.

"Nunchuck Fuck!"

LOL! Yeah, the AVGN last week did a video on Ninja Gaiden on NES. Boy it was harlious!!! During the video he mentioned he had never beaten Ninja Gaiden in like 2o years. Well, today I felt quite anxious and decided to give Ninja Gaiden a try. Now before I continue I like to mention that I have already played and beat Ninja Gaiden a couple of years ago but on an NES emulator with save states and etc. So was I up for the most difficult challenge in NES history!? Let's find out!!!

During the day I was playing Master Blaster for the first time and it pissed me off cause I made it as far as Area 4 and I had already used up all my continues so GAME OVER!! Aghhhh!! I put that game aside and tried out Battletoads. Well, I tried to get past level 3 but still couldn't Damn it! Then I came across Ninja Gaiden and decided to give it a shot to see how far I can go into one of the most hardest games in the NES catalog. I was doing fine up until level 5-3. It was giving me such a fit but managed to get through. Alright, here goes, level 6-1. The dredded level 6 of Ninja Gaiden!!! According to the Angry Video Game Nerd, it's such an ease to get past 6-1, but 6-2 is the pain in the ass. Well I got to the so called most "difficult part of the stage" and yes I did suffer a ton of deaths during my run. But after time, time, and time of getting killed, I was trying to find a way to get through. The Nerd states you have to trigger a glitch for the enemy to dissapear to jump across the platform. Well Nerd, your correct! You can trigger this glitch and it works just about most of the time if you time it well and see the enemy walk backwards off the screen.

So Once I got to the final three bosses, I managed to defeat the first but got my ass handed to me by the second boss. Crap!! Back to 6-1 again! This is the worst part of the entire game. When you loss during the boss battles in Stage 6 you go back to 6-1 and have to work your way back up again!! After almost 2 hours are so I managed to reach back to the boss room and your fight with the second boss begins. Only problem is your life isn't restored. So I beat the second boss after some time of dying and playing all of stage 6 time after time, I finally reached the final boss. The Nerd states he has never made it this far but I have. It's actually the second time in my life. Once again I get my ass handed to me by the final boss, made my way through stage 6 again for like 3 times and then finally I beat the final boss!!! God damn! My fuckin' thumb is red, sore, and feels like a blister is about to be formed. I'm not kidding.

And there you have it, Ninja Gaiden. One of the hardest, fuckin' fustrating games ever on NES. I feel proud of myself in the fact that I managed to beat this game far and square with no save states, cheats, and etc. AVGN, I'm sorry to say but all that training you did in that video with the ninja, well, your going to have to work and train even harder with your thumbs just as much as I did. :)

Halloween Havoc - Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse

I'm a little late in this Halloween theme since it's now mid November but hey that's what I get in playing another hard ass game in Castlevania III. Right after beating Castlevania II I quickly began my run through of the third installment of the series. After playing one hard game (Castlevania), and then an easy game (Castlevania II: Simon's Quest), it's a no brainer the next Castlevania game will go back to the difficult game play and frustrating moments like the first one did. Boy I was right.

Castlevania III starts off as a prequeal before Simon Belmont ever faced off against Dracula. This time it's his great, great, great.... whatever he is family member, Trevor Belmont. Along the way in the game you get a chance to meet up with other characters who will help you throught out the game. The negative of this is you can only tag along with one. It would've been nice to carry a group like in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where you were able to use all four turtles in the game. But nooooooo! This is Castlevania! This series shows you no mercy what so ever. I managed to complete the game with both Trevor & Alucard. Alucard is Dracula's son if you didn't know. Now I did meet up with Grant DaNasty but I never ran into Sypha. This game has different paths to choose from when you progress through the game. You could either choose to go down route 5 or route 4? Whatever you decide makes the game change when your playing.

Now on to the villians in the game. Of course Castlevania III has more villians compared to Castlevania II this time around. You got Dracula of course, Death, Cyclops, Medusa, Mummies and etc. Well I only fought Dracula, Death, Mummies, Cyclops, and a clone of myself. You see it all depends which routes you take so I did not get a chance to fight the two headed dragon, Medusa, or Frankenstien. Dracula was a bitch to fight once again as it took me quite a while to figure how to defeat him since you had to beat him three times as he transforms twice during the battle. First he's the Count himself, second, he transforms into a 5 headed demon, and finally he transforms into a huge gargoyle.

This concludes the 8-bit Castlevania games on the NES. I went through all three from the middle of October and ended it in the middle of November. Of the three games, Castlevania II is the worst of the worst. There is another Castlevania game I must go through so...........

Coming up next: Super Castlevania IV

Halloween Havoc - Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

"I now process Dracula's heart." LOL! What!? Process? Isn't it posses? Typical old school NES misspelling back in the old days. I've spent the last two weeks playing this game and let me tell you I did not enjoy this game at all. While the 1st Castlevania was hard as fuck, this game way to easy to get by. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest was nothing like the 1st Castlevania game. Instead, this game is more of a action / RPG game, which most Castlevania games on PS1, GBA and DS are. At the time, this element of game play was new to old school NES gamers back in the day and most of us didn't like it one bit. Today, a game like Simon's Quest would be greeted with open arms but only if they fixed some of the flaws this game had.

So picking up where the 1st game left off, apparently Dracula was defeated but put a curse that is spreading through out the whole village and etc. So what is Simon Belmont to do? Grab his whip and collect all the remains of Dracula scattered all over several towns and bring them back to Transylvania and bring Dracula back from the dead to kill him again. Ok? Wouldn't it have been easier to just destroy the remains to finally put Dracula at rest? Reminds me of the movie Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors where the only way to defeat Freddy was to dig up his remains and pour holy water on it so that he is finally destroyed. Anyways, I'm just stating it would've been easier for Simon to do just that instead of going to Dracula's castle and bringing him back to life only to defeat him. So the game is your typical walking around talking to people in every village / town and they provide you with some clues and tips but mostly all their info are useless. You start off with the leather whip by default but the game introduces you to other weapons and upgrades. Instead of having one whip there are 5 types when you progress through the game. The five whips consists of leather, thorn, chain, morning star, and morning star / flame whip. Other weapons are 3 types of daggers, regular, sliver and gold, a cross which acts as a boomerang, of diamond which can be used to throw at your enemies, the holy water, and a ball of fire to throw.

The game is alright but after a while of playing it for hours you kind of get pissed off at the little things. For instance, there are only three bosses in total in this game. The Grim Reaper is back, a huge face / mask dropping tears of blood that turns into fireballs, and finally of course Dracula. Like the Angry Video Game Nerd stated in his review of this game not so long ago, you could just walk by the Grim Reaper and the Mask and not put up a fight at all. I did put up a fight against them cause once their defeated your rewarded with a special item. To be honest, the battle between Death and the Mask aren't even hard. This time around, Death was easier to defeat compared to the 1st Castlevania game which Death would tick me off every time he beat me. As for Dracula, LOL! Keep throwing that flame attack on him and you win. So another Castlevania game in the books but it's unfortunate this game is the black sheep of the whole Castlevania series. The game was going in the right direction but I believe it was too early for it's time to adapt to a RPG / action game back in 1988 - 1989. This is why the next game in the Castlevania series - Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse makes up for the poor game play of CastleVania II. Castlevania III takes you back to the old game play style of the 1st Castlevania which every fan preferred.

Coming up next: Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse

Halloween Havoc - Castlevania

It's the month of Halloween and after watching another installment of the Angry Video Game Nerd run through Castlevaina on NES I decided to do the same and keep the theme of Halloween as well. Now Castlevania on NES is freakin' hard. I have read so many tips, seen so many videos, and heard too many people state the game is not hard at all. Are you kidding me? I had a hard enough time trying to defeat the mummy men, then it was Frankenstein, then for a long period of time it was Death / Grim Reaper and finally I got through and had a shot against Dracula but failed to defeat him. Well, as of this past Saturday I didn't let Dracula beat me no more. I sat down one night and popped in Castlevania and made all the way to Dracula for the 2nd time in my life and once again got my ass handed to me.

I couldn't let Dracula beat me again another day so I killed myself for 2 hours trying to figure out a pattern, strategy and timing till I finally figured it out. Once finding a solution to defeat him, it was easy as pie all along the way. FINALLY, I put Dracula to fuckin' rest. I can believe Dracula as the final boss in this game but once you beat him in his first form then he transform into a huge beast! WTF!? The Japanese sure like to make a simple boss have some kind of strong power or transformation to make your experience much harder.

Castlevania was another of those games when I was a kid didn't play it or really didn't pay any attention to. The game was not good to me at all. Maybe it's due to too much Super Mario Bros. and TMNT games that made me really shut this game out of my early childhood. I bought this game at a Flea Market for $5 and let me tell you it was well worth the price. After all the fustrating deaths and Game Over's from this game, and maybe a couple of controller smashing to the ground, I can finally say, "I BEAT FREAKIN' CASTLEVANIA ON NES!!!!"

Coming up next: Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

A Test of Island Courage!? Whatever!!!

Another one bites the dust. Star Tropics is defeated and boy what a pain in the ass game it was. With only eight chapters and several bosses the game came out to be ok but not great. This was more of a action / RPG game with no level build up or nothing. It was almost a Legend of Zelda type of game with every level or boss you beat you gain an extra heart of life. Anyway, the game is about a boy named Mike who's gone to some island to find his father who was told ended up missing so you set out all over these other islands to rescue him. Through out your adventure you'll encounter bosses, clues, and etc. before you meet up with your father in Chapter 6. The main plot is really not told yet until you meet Mike's father in which he explains about a spaceship and an evil alien who is behind the whole situation, blah, blah, blah, and now the real game begins. Chapter 7 & 8 are a pain in the ass. It doesn't matter if you have a full line of health or not the enemies in the game take up as most as 4 hearts when you get hit. As for Zoda, the main boss in the game, you have to fight him twice. In the final fight, if you get touched by him or stomped on, INSTANT DEATH!!!! You don't know how long or how many times it took me to finish him off. He takes more freakin' hits than any other boss in this game.

Oh well, forget this shit. So, what's my next NES game in line!?

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://e-man-nes-collection.blogspot.com/2009/09/another-one-bites-dust.html' title='A Test of Island Courage!? I managed to beat both Zelda games and I'm ready to jump over to the SNES to take on the challenge of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The final Zelda game on NES, Zelda 2, was quite a great run. It was kind of a pain in the ass to level up to make Link strong enough to face the palace bosses and the other enemies that were much more stronger every time you advanced through the game. As I stated before, I had to go through 2 game carts to finally put the nail in the coffin on Zelda 2. When I first bought Zelda 2 I had no idea the cart was defective. The only time I knew it was when I finally played it and the damn game happen to go screwy on me right when I was far in the game. Aghhh! That's when I had to go back to eBay and purchase another Zelda 2. But anyways, Zelda 2 is done and gone. Out of the 2 Zelda games on NES I rank Zelda 2 on top of the first Zelda. Every one states Zelda 2 was no way the same as the original but I think it was way better than the original. The sprites of the characters in this game were much more detailed and bigger than they were on the first Zelda game.

As for the bosses, some of them were quite difficult to defeat but after a while they have their weaknesses. In the final boss in this game was.........Shadow Link!? What!? No Gannon!? Wow! So the boss in this game was almost a Star Wars type of ordeal where Link had to fight his inner evil. Wicked!
Now on to;
LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST!!!

"Yo Joe!" Part III

Yeah I know, there isn't anymore G.I. Joe games to write about but to conclude this so called "G.I. Joe saga" I just want to state I had the chance to see the G.I. Joe movie last Saturday. Overall, not a bad movie. It has it's flaws and cons but it did meet my expectations though. My only complaints about this movie is why the hell would you have a story where Duke, Baroness and Cobra Commander all know each other? Why have Cobra Commander named Doctor? Like I said, these are just minor complaints. I can't wait to get this movie on Blu-ray when it's released.

As for the new G.I. Joe game on PS3, well, it looks nice but the reviews this game is getting are very poor. I'm a huge G.I. Joe fan but I might consider getting this game but only if it drops to $20.

"Yo Joe!" Destro and Cobra Commander look like themselves." align="right" src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b300/email2003/gijoe2.jpg" width="382" height="374" />I am now done with the whole G.I. Joe NES game series. G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor is the 2nd game and the sequel to G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The only difference here is the game was made by Capcom, who
are gods in making games for the NES, while the 1st G.I. Joe game was made by some other company. The game begins off telling how the Joes defeated Cobra Commander and his forces but somehow Cobra has found some power of the island of Atlantis to be brought back to life and has powered his troops once again with more powerful villains and weapons. The G.I. Joe squad now consists of General Hawk, Snake Eyes, Duke, Road Block, Storm Shadow, and Wet Suit. Other characters make an appearance but are not playable. As for Corba, they have villains of Cobra Commander, Destro, Firefly, Cesspool, Overkill, and Major Bludd. Firefly?
Cesspool? Overkill? Once again these are names I've never heard from the actual series.

This game is much more superior than the previous one. It has more weapons to choose from and they all have the ability to become stronger by upgrading by maxing them out to LV.4. Your weapons are your fists and kicks, a rifle, a laser rifle, a wave blaster, and a rocket launcher. The laser rifle is much more effective compared to the other weapons. Speaking of Corba, Capcom finally got the characters for Destro and Cobra Commander right this time. Comparing these characters from the 1st G.I. Joe game is a no contest. The game can be annoying at times when you get killed. When getting killed in battle, your "WOUNDED!" and all your powering up your life bar and your weapons get downgraded. All that hard work just to piss you off.

It's too bad Capcom couldn't make another G.I. Joe game cause this one is one of my favs. I recall renting this game when I was a kid and playing the hell out of it. Only problem was I never really made it past the 1st stage. It was great finding this game at a flea market for $4.50. If you manage to find a copy on eBay the game runs you at around $11-$16. Overall, this game is a classic and is a must get if you haven't tried it out yet. Also, if your a G.I. Joe fan, like me, there's no way you could pass this up. I'm willing to bet both these NES G.I. Joe games are going to bet better than the upcoming G.I. Joe games based off the movie coming in this week.

"And now I know!"

"And knowing is half the battle!"

"Yo JOE!"

"Yo Joe!" - Part I

Yo Joe! I decided to begin my weekend in dipping into the only two G.I. Joe
NES games. On the next two weeks I will begin to play the G.I. Joe games which
will lead up to the movie coming out this August. Oh by the way, I purchased G.I.
Joe Season 1.1 on DVD so this is really a G.I. Joe month for me. :P So let me
begin explaining the 1st G.I. Joe game I conquered entitled G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. I remember when I first saw this game when I was a kid I
thought it was a freakin' awesome game. The ability to pick 3 Joes and used them
on the same screen by switching them out by pressing select, wicked. The game
only have a handful of Joes to pick from; Duke, Snake Eyes, Captain Grid Iron,
Rock Roll, Blizzard & General Hawk (useable only on Stage 6-1-2). Now I know who
Duke, Snake Eyes and General Hawk is but who the fuck is Blizzard, Captain Grid Iron and Rock & Roll? I don't recall these guys on the G.I. Joe series. Where is
Roadblock, Shipwreck and hell where is Scarlet? Odd choice of Joes for this game. The game contains six stage with 2-3 levels each stage. Each Joe has a different type of weapon in which you must upgrade during the game. The gun each Joe has starts off at Level 1-A and grows every time you collect a GUN icon to make the weapon stronger to defeat your enemies and bosses. The Weapons all max out past Level 3-D and can downgrade back to Level 1-A when you get a Game Over screen. All the Joes use guns except for Snake Eyes. Snake Eyes uses jitsu or KI blasts to blast his enemies out of the way.

As for the villains of the game, well, of course you have the evil terrorists group known as Cobra led by Cobra Commander. He's the last guy you'll meet in the game. The bosses are as follows; Raptor, Range Viper, Metal Head, Overlord, Road Pig, Voltar, Golubulus, and Destro. Once again I'm going to say this, who the hell is Raptor, Range Viper, Metal Head, Overlord, Road Pig and Voltar? Never mind. I still can't believe they placed Golubulus as a villian before meeting up to the likes of Destro and Cobra Commander. Golubulus is pretty much high and supreme compared to Cobra Commander and Destro but instead the game places him as just another stooge boss to take down. He should've been the main boss right after you defeat Cobra Commander. Aghhh! If you've seen G.I. Joe: The Movie then you know what I'm bitching about here. As for Cobra Commander and Destro being in the game, they don't look like their cartoon counterparts at all. Destro looks like Cobra Commader and Cobra Commander looks like a cyborg or a Cobra Viper trooper or something. Where's Destro's silver, metal face? And why does he have a sword to fight you with? When in the series did we ever see Destro with a sword or a freakin' cape? As for Cobra Commander, when you meet him in the final boss battle, he's a small snake just waiting for you in his room and a beam transforms him into a cyborg / human. WTF? So you mean to tell me Cobra Commander in this game was a small, helpless pet snake barking out orders to the organization of Cobra to take down the Joes? I think that's what the company, Taxan, made us believe. I mean, did they even watch the show to know who Cobra Commander was? The game was made in 1990! The series began in 1984. NO EXCUSE!!!!

"I am great! Both quests are all done and conquered by me. It wasn't easy. The 2nd quest was really tough. The 2nd quest almost made every enemy twice as strong than the 1st quest. What's interesting about this 2nd quest is the dungeons themselves. Not only they're differently mapped from the 1st time you saw them but they managed to insert almost 2-3 bosses in each dungeon. Of course this task of taking on the 2nd quest isn't easy if I didn't have a map to go along. I don't see how anyone can play this game without a map. It's freakin' impossible! So now that it's over, where's my Zelda II game? Well, still not here. Aghh!! I guess I'll just have to wait this week for it's arrival.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://e-man-nes-collection.blogspot.com/2009/07/i-am-great-i-have-amazing-wisdom-and.html' title='"I am great! I was so far into the game with about 4/6 crystals already and the damn game began to act up on me. It's real frustrating when you save the game 30 minutes ago then 30 minutes later the game locks up and makes you push the damn reset button making you lose all the progress you have gained during that time. So here I am thinking maybe the game needed some cleaning which would explain why the game must of been acting up so I clean the cartridge and I get nothing but a solid silver screen on my television set. The game still dirty? Or, maybe it could be the NES' pins. Well to make sure if that was the case I put in Legend of Zelda and the game worked just fine. I also manage to put in Contra, Super Mario Bros. 3 and they all work fine. So maybe it isn't the NES' pins then. Anyways, I put back in Zelda II and what do I get........the damn blasted silver screen again!!! WTF!? Could the cartridge be dead? After a couple of minutes later, I manage to get the game back up and running but with my saved file erased!! DAMN YOU ZEDLA II!!! All that work I put in to this game lost forever cause of the damn cartridge. My guess it's probably the damn save battery in the cart has gone bad. Just my luck.

So what's next!? Well, unfortunately I had to go back to eBay and find me another Zelda II game. *sigh* Now I'm going to have two Zelda II games in my stock. This one better work too! While Zelda II is on it's way I decided to go ahead and take the challenge on the 1st Legend of Zelda game and play the 2nd Quest. The 2nd Quest should keep me busy until the other Zelda game arrives in the mail.

Metroid - DEFEATED!!!!

Last night I finally put away an old, classic NES game in Metroid. I began playing this game last weekend and really had no love for this game but I stuck through it and saw what makes this game so great. Of course without a map this game can get a little hard trying to remember where your going. Yes, I had a magazine that helped me get through this game but I did manage to find some of the items with out the map when I began playing. There really isn't much to this game. There's only 3 bosses and that's it. The whole point of this game is to explore the planet and find the upgrades and weapons you'll need to continue your mission, and try to not get lost and backtrack to where you need to go to continue the game.

Now, I beat this game and got the so called "Not so good ending." When I defeated the Mother Brain I got nothing but a couple of text and Samus just standing there and giving me a hands up for victory then the end credits started rolling. Typical Nintendo game ending but later I found out there are more endings to this game based on how long it takes you to beat it. Seems like I got the 5-10 HR and got this ending. Only difference in the endings is if I could've beaten this game within 2 HRS then I could have gotten the best ending with Samus revealing herself to be a female while she takes off her armor. That's it!? Bah! Who cares about the ending? I beat the game.....THE END!!!

So I defeated Metroid, now I must go after and buy the sequel on the GameBoy, Metroid 2: The Return of Samus. Once I beat the next Metroid game I'll finally get my hands on the so called "Greatest SNES Game" Super Metroid.

One More Added.....

Conquest of the Crystal Palace or a.k.a Matendo Douji. Uhh....right? Anyways, I just finally bought this game and got it today. It's another one of those Japanese Famicom games in which they have anime-ish art style to make the game look even better. It's also another one of those in where it comes from Japan, arrives in the USA and they change the box art, the name of the game and who knows what else they did with it. All I know is I bought it cause I love how some games like this and Clash at Demon Head...........ughhhhh.......a.k.a Dengeki Big Bang!, use anime art. I mean I love anime and I love how the Japanese handle their games back in the days. It's too bad the USA couldn't get more of these kinds of games from Japan. Or, maybe there is and their hiding under different names. Hmmmm............? It's funny how odd games like these are corporated by strange American game companies we have never heard of before.

Happy New Year!!!!

2008 is now over and gone. 2009 has arrived and I'm still continuing my NES collection. Last month I bought the so called cheap "Ninja Turtles" knockoff of Battletoads of of eBay for $9.50. Also last month I managed to buy another NES
accessory; the NES 15 Game Case. Yes I need a case since my NES collection is now reaching almost 80 games now. I never thought I would go this far with it.

On my Christmas trip I headed down south to Brownsville, TX and I ran into a Flea Market and decided to check it out to see if they had any NES games to buy. Unfortunately I came empty handed since there was really nothing to buy. Their were some games but they were all in bad shape. Yes, I'm really picky about condition of my games. : ) Oh, and finally in the last month of December I finally bought myself a GameBoy. The original black / white, dot matrix GameBoy system. I decided to begin my collection of best GameBoy games for the system. There really isn't much but hey, it's a start. So that's it for now. 2009 is here and we'll see what I'll be aiming for this year. Who knows if I ever will complete the NES collection first since I keep finding more good games for it. As long as the price is good and not expensive as hell then I'll continue.

It's Been a While......

Yeah, so I'm too lazy in updating this blog but hey I was busy doing other things like work, buying more PS3 games, (Bio Shock, Far Cry 2, Resistance 2, Fall Out 3, and Mega Man 9). Over the whole time spawn I've managed to get some more NES titles and a NES game box based off Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt. Oh, and let's not forget......I've also managed to buy even the NES model #2 - Top Loader and a Super Mario plush doll from the gothic store - Hot Topic. Creepy freaks work there. So here's a list of stuff I've gained over the whole summer of 2008:

P.O.W.

Life Force

Gyruss

Crystalis

To the Earth

NES System: Top Loader

NEW! What a way to represent the classic old NES system with one of the games that launched with the unit. Although Super Mario Bros. was never my favorite of the series, I prefered Super Mario Bros. 3, it does bring back memories of the game which came along with my first NES system in the late 80's early 90's. I just had to buy this shirt. I love the way how the this shirt represents the front look of the old NES cartridge.

The shirt costs me $20 at Hot Topic at the mall. Aghhhh, Hot Topic. One of the stores I hate to go in. It's too bad they have cool stuff like this in a damn gothic store with strange creeps at the register. :P

More Games Added and Another Arrives!

It's been a while since I once again re-entered the scene on my NES collection. I was too busy buying other things, (MLB 08 The Show and Grand Theft Auto IV on PS3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii). But I managed to sneak in some games little by little to continue my progress. This past Monday I logged on to eBay and decided to grab Bucky O' Hare & Journey to Silius. Bucky O' Hare? Yes. I said Bucky O' Hare. A cartoon series in which I recall when I was a kid. Can't remember it now since it was probably 15 years ago but I still remember the green, strange looking rabbit from space. Oh, and yes I had once own he action figure too. Damn! I wish I never sold it in a garage sell. It would've been a rare item today. :( Come to think of it, I never knew the series made a game on
the NES. I just knew about this years ago.

Anyways, two days later I get Bucky O' Hare in my mail box. Wow! That's fast shipping! I'm still awaitng for Journey to Silius though. I have a feeling it's not too far behind.

I have updated my list of new finds:

Gun Nac

Metal Storm

Shatter Hand

P.O.W.

The Guardian Legend

Life Force

Gradius

S.C.A.T.

Gyruss

Isolated Warrior

Heavy Barrel

Finally! Last week I also got my hands on G.I. Joe too. These were the last two games to finish off my collection but, I managed to eye more good NES titles so the NES collection campaign continues! The new NES titles am looking for now are:

Journey to Silius

Metal Storm

Bucky O Hare

Shatter Hand

P.O.W.

Oh, forgot to mention that my sis found me a loose copy of Roller Games in good shape at a Pawn Shop in Austin, Texas.

Thanks sis.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://e-man-nes-collection.blogspot.com/2008/03/finally-long-awaited-titles-have.html' title='Finally! Though, I am still expecting Ninja Gaiden and 25 NES Dust Covers in the mail and this has taken longer than expected.

Until next time!

Today in the Mail!!!

Yet again another NES classic arrives in my mail box today!

Ninja Gaiden III: The Ship of Doom

Unfortunately this one is going back to the original owner! The so called deal yesterday of getting:

Contra

TMNT 2: The Arcade Game

TMNT 3: The Manhattan Project

Double Dragon 2

Mega Man

Mega Man 5

Mega Man 6

for $58 was not the overall price. The guy still wanted $5-$6 for shipping as well! BS! So here's the so called new deal that will go down:

Contra

TMNT 3: The Manhattan Project

Mega Man

Mega Man 5

Mega Man 6

All these for $54 with shippng included already. It better be. >:(

Now, today in my mail box I got:

Mighty Final Fight

Ninja Gaiden 2

Ninja Gaiden 2: Nintendo Power Guide

Metriod

Now Ninja Gaiden 2 and the guide book were both sent to me FREE! Yes, I said FREE from some guy who didn't want either of the the two items. Oh well, your lose is my gain! Mighty Final Fight is a real rare game. I don't recall this game ever being on NES when I had my system 15-18 years ago.

Thanks go out to michiganfan2 over at Nintendo Age for providing me Mighty Final Fight.

Thanks got out to Applehead over at Nintendo Age for providing me free both Ninja Gaiden 2 & The Nintendo Power Guide.

Today in the Mail!!

Today I just recieved 2 games bought from eBay:

Mega Man 4

River City Ransom

That's about it. Now, Contra, TMNT 3, Mega Man are very rare titles and for this guy to be selling them for $8.29 ain't bad of a price. I couldn't say no cause some of these games are going for more than $12-$20 on eBay right now.

So now, I have to play the waiting game to see if these games are in good shape like he stated. Let the countdown begin!

I'm only about 1/4 of the way almost done with my NES Collection!

As a side note for today, my sister, who goes to the University of Texas in Austin, went to a store whol sells old classic games and found tons of NES games. She stated the games prices were extreme.

Super Mario Bros. 2 - $20

Mega Man 6 - $50

Mega Man 4 - $30

Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout - $10

Batman: Return of the Joker - $15

Contra - $50

Ouch! That's way out of my range! She found Roller Games for $5 but the game was in piss, poor shape! Oh well sis, we gotta continue looking. She'll try to get a chance to head over to the Flea Market in Austin this weekend to find some more NES games at a good price. The first Flea Market I hit I found:

Dr. Mario - $2

Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers - $6

Power Glove (Loose with no sensors) - $5

Not bad though. I did run into a seller who had games I was looking for like, TMNT 2, Mega Man 4, Double Dragon 2, but the prices were too steep for me. I mean come on, TMNT 2 for $14? Mega Man 4 for $18!? I'm sorry but that just ain't right with me.

I went to two other Flea Markets but they had nothing. The last one I visited had:

Kid Icarus - $4

Also, I got this game in the mail:

Gauntlet

And, well, that was it for this past weekend.
